Happy Birthday Emma!

2 weeks ago, we had a birthday party conducted at our craft center, Craft Space, located at The School Jaya One.

Those who know me knows I always like to personalize everything! From apparels to accessories to parties! Yes, parties! I have been decorating my kids parties since they are born!

Emma's party is no exception! Especially since it will be done at our own craft center! It would be such a waste not to decorate it, wouldn't it?! I mean...it is something I'm passionate about & I love the look of a happy kid! So, I've decided to throw in a little surprise for our birthday gal...

Since the decoration will be a surprise, I had to be very careful when getting information from Emma's mom. I asked about her age...Mommy told me to get some helium balloons to make the center more like a party...with 3 colors: Red, Pink & Yellow...

So, with the limited information, I tried to see what we can do...

Firstly, I need a backdrop...so We DIY the backdrop with simple wordings, together with the birthday gal's name. Since she is a girl, I put up flowers & butterflies on the backdrop. Lots of flowers & butterflies...

This is how the backdrop looks like when it is done...

Rainbow colored Roses on top of the backdrop, daisies of Red, Pink & Yellow are all over the backdrop & little butterflies of contrast colors!

Oh, I even made a tiny tiara with blings...did you see it? I placed it on the top right hand side of the letter A in Emma!

Since we have decided to pick flowers as the theme, we also decorated the entrance to the party area with lots of flowers made from Chenille Stem...this is what we have done...

Oh! I even decorated the entrance with a fake cake...it has Emma's name on it too!

At the other side where the food is, I placed a huge Happy Birthday Banner on the wall. I also put up words "Emma is 4"

At the 11th hour, a day before the party, we noticed that 1 of the cabinets at the entrance to the party area is very empty...so we cut out teddy bears & lots of balloons using foam to decorate it. We also put up some bear paw prints...this can be the photo booth for the kids!

OK...now we wait for the party to start!

Food area is all setup & ready!

Party started with kids having fun with beads!

It is fun watching kids putting effort to complete a task, especially at their young age. It was our honor to have Emma here at Craft Space too!

Hope the birthday girl had a blast with the party & love the little surprises that we have put up for her big party! 😊😊😊

Mission accomplished!

Garden in a Jar

It's the end of an academic year for Christopher. Based on our family 'tradition' (we only started this tradition when Constantine started school), every year end we will prepare some goodies for classmates & teachers, to wish them a very happy holiday & thank them for everything that they have done...

You may want to read on the previous year end goodies we have prepared for Constantine here:
Flower Power, 2011
Since this is Christopher's 1st year in school, he got all excited about the year end party, which is on 21st Nov. Which means, the mommy will be extremely busy preparing the party packs for his class mates & teachers.

For his classmates, I will usually prepare the normal school kit like pencil case, pencils, eraser, etc plus some food items. Pretty standard. I will only prepare something unique next year for the graduation...:)

But for the teachers, I handmade the presents. This time, I try something new...it is still crochet, it is still Rose flowers, but it will be in a mason jar...:)

Here's what I prepared...6 for female teachers...oh, just so you know, there is no repetition in colours...:)

This bigger jar with 3 Roses & a Butterfly is for his home room teacher...after I finished assembling the flowers in the jar, only I realised I forgot the leaf! LOL...oh well...

This bigger jar with 2 Roses & a Butterfly is for the Principal...

Then the smaller jars are for his other female teachers...smaller jar can be tilted...so it will have 2 options of displaying.

This is for his home room teaching assistant...

This is for his 'favourite' music teacher...

This is for his Mandarin teacher...

This is for his Swimming coach...

And this is for the helper...a stalk of Red Rose...looks good!

Since flowers are not a wise present for male teachers, I made airplanes instead...

This is for his Taekwondo Master...

From this angle, it looks like the plane is taking a left turn...cool huh...

And this is for his Gym teacher...

Ready to take off...

Not too bad, huh?

These are great for decorations & as a paper weight! Best of all, it give me a chance to come up with something that i have never done before...using mason jar...

But honestly, i was kinda regret at 1st because it was very difficult to put everything in...😂

But, I guess it was an experience...

Material used: mason jar, acrylic yarn, glue, artificial grass, japanese beads, toilet roll
Duration of completion: 48 man hours
Experience/Satisfaction level: 😭 can be further improved...flowers need to be smaller...
