Garland or Flag Lines?

Is this called Garland or Flaglines?

Hm...I'm not sure! But I'm pretty sure it is pretty! Hahahaha...

Not to boast, but after it was being hung up there, many passerby actually took photos of it & asked where can they buy something similar...

Well, sorry to say you can't buy it off the shelf because it is custom made...by me...for this mall! I'm pretty proud of myself too because the mall actually placed additional order after the 1st batch is hung...

New Craft Skill 2: The Beginning

As Q2 begins, I have been researching hard what to learn & hopefully master it...

After about a week of deep research, i have decided to give this a try...

In the European countries, this had gained some popularity over the few months. I'm sure this craft has been around for a while but not as popular...

Since it is new, I can't really get alot of instruction how to make it, I have only photos of the finished products to refer to...but that is good enough as this is a pretty easy craft, once you have mastered the basics...

Here it is! Perler Beads! Perler beads (as known as Hama beads or Nabbi beads) are plastic fusible beads. These colorful beads are usually arranged on plastic pegboards to form patterns and then fused together with a clothes iron. They can also be strung into necklaces, woven into keychains, or even assembled into three-dimensional decors.

Crafting Perler beads is a fun and inexpensive art form that inspires creativity. It can also help young children develop hand-eye coordination skills and learn color names and basic counting. Most impartantly, it teaches kids to be patient & concentrate. One small mistake may require you to re-do the whole thing!

Well, at first, I was afraid to pick up this craft as I was sure if the kids can actually have the patience & focus to complete the designs that they love, but I soon realised that if the kids love the design, they will definitely able to really complete it!

Here is what I first experimented, with the help of some photos...

Then, I started to experiment with more designs...

Ok, this craft is extremely addictive! You will see why I said so...LOL

17th Week of Craft Activity (24th May 2015)

This week, we introduced creative 3D Quilling as part of our craft activity...we used corrugated cardboard to do the quilling.

In case you wonder what quilling is all about...

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. This art have been around for hundreds of years in fact. We can actually use different kind of paper to make this.

This is very addictive too...lol

Let's hope the kids enjoy making these!

16th Week of Craft Activities (17 May 2015)

This week, we taught kids how to DIY their own special Desktop Organizer.

Here are some sample idea how they can design their perfect Desktop Organizer! We have different shapes to begin with...triangle, square, circle...

Then we have different colors to choose from...either they can choose the plain colored popsicle sticks or they can choose the colored popsicle sticks. Personally, I like the plain ones better as I think it bribgs out the decorations.

Some desktop organizers can even allow kids to put up their photos on it! Let's see if you can identify which one...

Well, let's hope kids love what they make!

15th Week of Craft Activities (10 May 2015)

Today is Mother's Day. We are making tiaras for mommies! What better ways to tell mom she is the Queen of our heart, right?

We made the tiara with foam. Kids can choose their preferred design, then decorate the tiara with lots of rhinestones & flowers...hm...I have mote kids doing this for themselves rather than for moms...lol

Oh, we also made double heart wand for mommy too!

Here are some of our samples...

And, those kids that made mommy the tiara & heart wand will receive a special gift from us too! We gave away a smaller heart shaped wand to the kids PLUS a hand crochet flower to the mommies!

14th Week of Craft Activities (3rd May 2015)

This week, we start prep-ing our beloved kids on Mother's Day gifts...

We are teaching kids how to make a bouquet of flower specially for their lovely mommy!

Here is what we have...we have flower made with different materials...papers, tissue paper, crepe paper, Chenille Stems...these hand bouquets are for the older kids as the stems are wired stems...

When they finished making the bouquet, we helped to tie a ribbon on the bouquet too!

These are for those who prefer having it done on a paper plate...

After the kids are done, we actually gave a heart shaped wand (made with Chenille Stems) to the kids, to reward them for making the mother's day gift!

Although the mommies have to pay for the craft, I'm sure it worths all the investment to have their kids making such special gift for them!

Happy Mother's Day to all mommies!
